Disney’s Port Orleans
If you have ever seen Disney’s Princess and the Frog, you know I am talking about New Orleans, and in Disneyworld terms, that means Disney’s Fabulous French Quarter reminiscent resort Port Orleans!
You can take a bus or a boat to Port Orleans’ French Quarter and enjoy all the resort has to offer. If you love some good southern cookin, traditional Louisiana treats, Bourbon Street adult beverages, and Jazz music, then this is the spot for you!
Port Orleans Decor
From the moment you arrive you can take in the beautiful French architecture and listen to the sounds of the city. First, step into the lobby where you will find yourself transported to New Orleans!
Then you can’t miss the huge collection of Mardi Gras masks on display! Next, you need to check out the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory.
The Southern Food
If you know New Orleans, then you know about Cafe du Monde. Yes, we are talking about beignets… Mickey shaped of course!
Those of you who are not versed in New Orleans treats, they are a mouthwatering donut of sorts with TONS of powdered sugar! You will go back for more!
If the beignets weren’t enough of a slice of heaven to satisfy your sweet tooth, they serve up an even sweeter treat! They offer a beignet sundae that is big enough for the family to share and live on a sugar high forever!
The sundaes come in three flavors chocolate, strawberry, and caramel. You need to pair it with a traditional coffee Au Lait, which is a chicory coffee mixed half and half with hot milk. YUM!
The Sassagoula also offers traditional Louisiana cuisine like Po’ Boy sandwiches, shrimp n’ grits, gumbo, and jambalaya. You can always end your meal with other sweet treats you find there, like pecan pralines and Mardi Gras King Cake.
When you are done with dinner, head on over for some adult fun at Scat Cat’s Club. You can feel the jazz rhythm and dance the night away!
If you start to get hungry you can enjoy crab dip, Etoufee, and top if off with a boozie treat of Baton Rouge Beignets (Beignets jazzed up with Bailey’s, Rumchata, or Kahlua take your pick).
Now to really get to enjoy your night, you need to drink like you are on Bourbon Street! At Scat Cats, you can enjoy Southern Hurricanes, Whisky Swagger Tea, The Big Easy, or a Bayou Rum Flight.
Family Fun at Port Orleans
Besides food and drink, Port Orleans offers a lot of family fun! You can enjoy the Mardi Gras themed pool and hot tubs the resort has to offer and there is also an arcade on site!
You can groove on over to Jackson Square for all your home away from home needs like merch, snacks, stamps, baby needs, etc. As with all Disney resorts they offer you days of fun without ever going to the parks!
Port Orleans offers it’s guests bingo, painting on the Bayou, Mickey tie dye crafts, dance parties, a cajun campfire, a movie under the stars, and don’t forget the Mardi Gras pool party! You can also take the bus over for some Fantasia Mini Golf.
When you are ready to head to the parks just head on over to the resorts bus stop and you will have fast easy transportation to the park of your choice!
So when planning your magical getaway, do yourself a favor and don’t count out Port Orleans.. or do, if you want to miss out on all the fun!!
